The Last Curtain Call

We are all involved in the healing process in some way.  As a healer we know we can’t heal or even comfort others unless and until we heal ourselves.  And for you non-healers, wounded healers are the most effective, because of our wounds.  We are more sensitive to the effects of the wounds and we’re stronger in the broken places.  Plus, everyone is wounded in some way.  If they tell you they’re not, they’re not being honest with you or themselves. Spiritual wounds are the worst.  Their true cause may be buried so deep its hard to know where to start digging and you often feel as though there’s no bottom to the darkness you’re digging in.

This all sounds bleak and hopeless, and we all have our moments when it seems there is no end, that we’re trapped in a bad episode of the Twilight Zone.  That for every wound we unearth and release there are ten more breeding in the rubble left behind.  But, there is always a morning after.  There is even moonlight in the night to help you find your way.  There is a point when the healing is complete and while there may be scars, the trauma is over.

How will you know the last wound is healed, that there are no more seeping wounds just below the surface waiting to rupture, and that even the scars are fading and becoming less ugly?  When you realize you’re no longer focused on your own healing and find yourself really caring what wounds the person(s) who hurt you suffer. This is not something you can make yourself do. If you try, you might get as far as musing about it, but you won’t really care.  Final healing is true enlightenment.  I’m not saying everyone who reaches enlightenment becomes another Buddah or Ghandi or Mother Teresa, your life may not change that much other than how you feel about yourself and other people, and how you relate to the Universe around you.  Yet there is a freedom, a lightness, an easiness to life once you reach that stage of know ing you’re beyond your own wounds.  This is when you begin to care that others are as wounded, scared and probably as disabled as you once were.

The final act of the drama is when our wounds are healed, we are free from the suffering, we truly care that others are suffering, and we comprehend enlightenment is when we have forgiven yet know how to protect ourselves from future wounds and drama. Yes, understanding how to prevent future wounds is part of enlightenment. We can care about the brutality and darkness in the world around us, however, true enlightenment changes how we react to and protect ourselves from these opposing forces.  For what good would all the work we put into healing be if we only go out tomorrow and allow it to happen all over again?

This is the cliff hanger, Happy Friday everyone, have a great weekend.

Hoarding

We all keep things we don’t need. Many of us use the excuse that we ‘collect’ things. Often these are things that bring us joy, comfort or even just remind us of a time, place or person that made us happy.  I’ve written before about cleansing ourselves of old, worn out thought processes and behaviors that no longer serve us because we have healed from the need for these processes and behaviors.  But often there is a deeper issue.

Somtimes we are carrying thought processes and behaviors we aren’t even aware of. Thoughts, feelings and behaviors which aren’t attached to any wound and were never part of our self preservation mechanics.  These processes and behaviors are so benign we often don’t even realize we have them.  Which sometimes this is okay.  I’m not overly concerned about the fact that when I’m feeling meloncholy I eat french toast, or that pumpkin pie makes me smile on those crisp fall days.  But while working through some things I had some old feelings surface which I didn’t realize I had.  For me this was about a time in my life when I was associated with people in a certain profession (no worries, it was a legitimate profession).  I hung out with them and even identified with them to a certain degree even though I didn’t actually work with them.  In allowing these memories to surface, I realized how truly bored I was back then.  These people were kind to me and we did have fun together, but my life was very boring then.

When I examined how much I’ve changed, I found that while I’m no longer friends with these people, I still had some of those feelings from when I hung out with them.  But now in comparing my life today with my life thirty years ago, it hit home that those years were only stepping stones to now.  There were no wounds, no drama, fears or worries back then, so the feelings were quite harmless.  Yet, when I let them go, released them back to Source to be neutralized, I felt much lighter, and like I had made room for other, better, emotions.

We are such complicated creatures and we have so many layers of emotions, thoughts, and behaviors even releasing the smallest twinge will make room for better, healthier, and happier.

X-Rays

Today’s post is short, just a thought I had while pondering life.

I bet almost everyone of you has either had an x-ray or know someone who has.  They reveal your insides; they show the sick, broken places and give the healer an idea of how to treat you so you heal and to prescribe something for the pain and discomfort.

What if we could x-ray the sick broken places of the heart, mind, soul and spirit?  Yes some healers can see in there and suggest ways to heal you.  But what if we all could see the x-rays of another’s broken spirit?  Or even the scars left from old wounds long healed but still a scar where once there was an open place.  Would we be so quick to judge?  Would we be less impatient?  Would we maybe be more understanding and compassionate? If there were a way to see the sick broken places in others’ hearts, minds, souls and spirits, would that change how we treat each other?

Just a thought.

Opposing Forces

Any energy which does not resonate with us is an opposing force.  We label these energies as negative, dark, evil, etc. based on our feelings toward these energies.  Many of them are for lack of a better word ‘negative’ but they are still necessary to keep balance in the Universe.  Positive-negative; light-dark; good-bad; are created by the same Divine to give us perspective for our feelings.  If negative didn’t exist, positive would have no meaning.

Yes, there are very negative forces at work and they are very real.  Every person is created by the same Divine Creator.  But each is created with the ability or privilege to choose right or wrong; good or bad; positive or negative energies to aline with in this and every other life they incarnate into.  We all have a choice every second of our existence which energy we allow to resonate with us.  It activates the karmic cycle, it affects the energy of all those around us, and has great bearing on our future selves.

The hard part is our perception. We may see an action as ‘not that bad’ or ‘probably okay’ and someone else may perceive it as very wrong or really bad.  This is also true when we look at the actions of others.  We may perceive them as rude, hateful, mean, wrong, bad, and they may have no idea how they are being perceived by others.  Or, sadly, they may just not care.  How they view themselves is not our concern.  Our only concern is how we perceive our own actions and what energies we allow ourselves to resonate with or which we allow to resonate with us. Period. Anything else is judgmental and pulls us into a karmic vice which will be even harder to resolve than our own karmic issues.

I’m not advocating accepting situations where there is horrendous abuse, torture, or even murder.  These are separate issues which have entered a realm of opposition where they have severed their connection to the Divine which created them. There are many degrees of love and light which are still connected to the Divine and which can be healed and raised vibrationally by light and love from us and the Divine.  True evil is a disconnect from the Divine, and really doesn’t want to be healed (Although I want to point out that we are still connected to the Source, the Divine vibrationally and the evil still affects us, but this issue is best left for a blog of its own).

Being created with a choice of the energies we allow to resonate with us and which we emit is a great privilege and we should treat it as such.  The temperature and vibrational frequency of the energy we send out is determing the condition of our world and will determine when, how and even if, our world heals.

Nurture Your Inner Child

When you were very young, what did you pretend to be? A fairy, a cowboy, a princess, a super hero?  We all had our fantasies, but as we matured the fantasies gave way to what appeared to be more practical ideals. Yet, on a lazy afternoon, or deep in our dreams, sometimes we still find the fantasies reaching back to us. We should never ignore these longings, we should embrace them with every fiber of our being. Nurturing the fantasies of the inner child are essential for balanced mental health.

For you fairies (no pun intended) out there, think about what fairies are best known for, they play in gardens, dance in the moonlight, and they like bright, shiny, objects.  How do you embrace this?  Plant a garden. Flowers, vegetables, herbs, whatever warms your heart and makes you smile.  Even some men enjoy gardening.  And for those of you who live in apartment buildings, you can have window boxes and/or house plants. Once the plants are growing, adorn them with garden orbs, wind chimes, flags, you can even decorate little fences with bright metalic paint.  Your inner fairy will be very happy.

For the cowboys out there, if you don’t really live in the country find a horse stable and make arrangements to ride on a regular basis.  If you’ve never ridden before, there are many people willing to teach you and trust me on this, most horses are gentle and patient.  Also, camping is a great way to exercise your inner cowboy.  But don’t go in an RV or trailer, you have to at least sleep in a tent.

The inner princess still knocking on your heart?  Take up fashion designing.  It really doesn’t matter if you’re artisitc, draw the clothing, buy a sewing machine and make a few small things.  Or design hair ornaments, jewelry or scarves and belts. You don’t have to make a living, just something to exercise the longings and let the inner child come out and play.

Superhero more you style. Volunteer to work at a soup kitchen to cook or serve the needy, a nursing home to organize games or just visit with residence who have no regular visitors, or a school maybe reading to the children, or helping with sports, or other extracurricular activities.  You’ll be a real hero to the people you’ll be helping and you’ll feel amazing about yourself.

And finally, with Halloween just around the corner, there is nothing wrong with buying or renting a costume just for one day.  If you’re having trouble connecting with a fantasy, looking at costumes may help you. The costume you’re most drawn to or feel the most comfartable with will tell you alot about your inner child.  Plus, many people still organize costume parties, and if no one you know is throwing a party, then you throw one.  Costumes parties are just as much fun for adults as for kids and are another great way to nuture your inner child.

I’m curious to hear from all of you, what you most long(ed) to be and what costume you would pick for a party.

Sacred Acts

Mother Teresa is known for saying we should perform small acts of kindness with great love. I completely agree. But I think there is far more to it. As I and many others have written, in the end we will not be judged on our house, car, income, wardrobe, career, etc. We will be judged on the condition of our hearts and how this was expressed in our actions towards others.

I recently read a story about an elderly couple at a banquet. The woman was obviously tired and this concerned her husband. He offered to get her some tea and she accepted. The person telling the story described how the husband carefully picked a china cup, poured the tea, added the sugar and some mints, and then carefully carried it to his wife. A small gesture, most people probably didn’t notice, and the few who did, probably didn’t realize the love which went into the small cup of tea. But the wife and the husband knew, this seemingly small gesture was performed with sacred love.

Every act, no matter how small, no matter how seemingly insignificant, when performed from the heart with pure intentions and true love, are sacred acts.

Identity is Spiritual

Your education, career, income, house, car, talents, hobbies, or off hours interests are not your identity.  They are reflections of pieces of your identity. But not the authentic, whole you have buried deep in the caves of your soul.  Very few people bring forth their true identity in full force, ever.  Yes, pieces, small parts, glimpses, of the soul granted by the Divine before conception. But not the true whole.

I admit a few down through history have brought out that special treasure.  Jesus, Ghandi, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King, Hitler (although that identity is more negative than positive, it was still his authentic identity).  Perhaps Steve Jobs, Elvis, John Lennon, Princess Diana, Van Gogh, Beethoven (just to name a few) were revealing more of their identities than most, yet, I’m betting even they had more to them than we saw.

Most are fearful of expressing their true identity.  Society (for the most part) has conditioned people to act a certain way, think a certain way, feel a certain way, regardless of whether it resonates with you or not.  Children are conditioned with limitations either for the sake of propriety or safety.  Babies are not born this way.  Watch the wonder, excitement, and joy of babies and small children before the conditioning takes hold. How many times have you thought ‘I wish I still felt that way’ or ‘to be that free and happy’ or even ‘to have that energy and determination.’

Identity is the Divine alive in you. Your full, open, nothing held back connection to the Creator, Divine Consciousness, God, whatever name you use when talking to them.  The you that has no worries, no thoughts of what others think, no concerns for tomorrow, or wonderings of the next hour, meal, paycheck, or clothes you are wearing.  When time stands still and the world has stopped turning. Your identity is the gifts, talents and abilities, the raw, uncensored light which allows you to be fully aware, fully in the moment, and operating fully with passion, joy and total abandon, in unconditional love with yourself.

Pain Relief

When you have a headache, backache, or minor wound you take tylenol, advil, aspirin, etc. When you break a bone or have surgery, the doctors may prescribe stronger pain medication. And too, there is medication for mental/emotional trauma.

But what about spiritual wounds? There are traumas which affect us on a deep spiritual level and unfortunately, there’s no medication, surgery, or external remedy for these wounds. Ministers, preachers, priests, rabbis, etc., will tell you to pray, and yes, the angels, spirits, Divine consciousness hear and will attend to you. Yet you still have the soreness, pain, unease while healing from the spiritual wounds.  During times like these, its very common to feel like you’re the only one who has ever felt this way or been through something like this. And like any other type of wound, if you don’t get to the root of the problem, you can’t heal properly.

Spiritual wounds are messy, complicated, and often hard to even acknowledge. But for healing to begin, you must acknowledge the wound. Accept its there, painful and ugly. Meditate on it, meditate on anything that will help you dig up the roots of the trauma that caused the wound. This usually takes some time and you often have to remove the trauma in pieces. As the pieces come loose and you clean out the wound, healing begins.

Yet while you’re healing, you’re tired, sore, and feel very off balance.  There are many ways to ease this discomfort. Here is a partial list that has worked for many people I know.

Aroma Therapy, candles, bath salts, sachets, lotions, etc., in scents which evoke calm, peace and comfort. Scents from happy memories or childhood celebrations are also good.

Staring at or allowing yourself to look at beautiful things. Flowers, puppies and/or kittens. A roaring fire, snowfall, rainfall, sitting outside in the sun.  Any of these which stir positive emotions will help if you allow yourself adequate time to really immerse into them.

Music which makes you happy or calms you.  Again you have to give the music time to really get you, get into you and work through the pain and soreness caused by the spiritual wounds.

Color therapy is wonderful for spiritual wounds, especially if combined with one of the previously mentioned therapies. A good example is that while yellow is not my favorite color, sunflowers truly stir me and if I sit and just take in their beauty, after several minutes, I begin to feel very calm.

There are many ways to be comforted while healing from spiritual wounds.  But spiritual wounds are the most invasive, hardest to resolve and heal from. If you need assistance with any spiritual trauma, wound or grievance, please email me at freefullife@gmail.com

Healthy Energy

Today I’m sharing the story of one of my test subjects of the meditation I’ve developed.  I’m not sharing the person’s name but the story is true.  The meditation is to clear and heal energy blockages in the chakras.  I’ve been working with this person for several months and when I offered the meditation they jumped at the opportunity. This person knew they had some stuck energy in their solar plexus and throat chakras.  There were also some wounds in the heart chakra but these had been mostly resolved. Additionally, they were dealing with some minor physical issues, mostly related to constipation, with headaches, backaches, joint pain and experiencing anxiety which came on mostly at night.

Over the past few weeks while working with the chakra meditation, my client noticed as the healing occurred and the epiphanies came to the surface, they were able to acknowledge and release them without dwelling on them.  As the healing continued, the landscape of their chakras were changing, somtimes almost daily.  Often there was a pattern to the change, but sometimes the changes made no sense to either of us.  Then almost over night their landscapes became more colorful and more alive.  Recently my client has experienced major physical healing.  Suddenly they were no longer constipated, which was a relief  and as this resolved over the course of about thirty-six hours, they stated their abdomen was sore and they were extremely fatigued.  I recommend extra sleep, even naps during the day if possible.

Also, they are sleeping more soundly, they have not had an anxiety attack for two weeks and these had been occurring every night usually multiple times a night.  There have been no headaches for over a week and the back and joint pain are mostly gone.  The fatigue is lingering which is to be expected and they are still sleeping more than usual.

This is an extreme case study.  Not all my test subjects are reporting this level of healing but most have experienced some relief from physical issues which were directly related to energy blockages caused by emotional issues.  I want to caution that not all physical ailments are caused by emotional issues and not all physical ailments can be healed or even relived with emotional or energy healing.  Although I personally believe our emotional thermostat predisposes us to physical maladies.

Being healthy, balanced, and aware of our emotional, mental, and spiritual energies is key to physical health. And taking care of our bodies by eating healthy, exercising regularly and getting adequate sleep every night has a profound impact on our emotions, thought processes and spiritual awareness.
